The Williamsport Millionaires offense was in high gear Friday evening. The Millionaires amassed 337 yards in total offense in their 33-13 victory over the home standing Crestwood Comets.
Leading the way for Williamsport was quarterback Frankie Marrone who threw for 200 yards and 2 scores. Wide receiver Jamaire Harden was on the receiving end for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Nasir Hennigan amassed 150 yards on the ground and added 2 touchdowns of his own.
“I am pleased at the way we were able to move the football tonight”, said Williamsport coach Charles Crews.
Following a first quarter which saw both teams exchange two punts each, Crestwood scored a touchdown early in the second quarter. Kaleb Benjamin burst off of his left tackle 2 yards to pay dirt.
Not to be frustrated, the Millionaires embarked on a seven-play, 73-yard drive. Hennigan jump started the drive with a 15-yard run through the center of the Comet defense. Hennigan scooted 14 yards to give the Millionaires the ball on the 2 yard line. From there he scored untouched for the score.
Williamsport’s defense forced a Crestwood 3 and out on the Comets next possession. Frankie Marrone’s pass was tipped into the hands of James Harden who raced 67 yards to up the lead to 12-7
The Millionaires then showed their quick strike potential. Once again Marrone hit a wide open James Harden with an 80-yard touchdown pass.
Once again the Comets were forced to punt the ball away to the Millionaires, Hennigan’s 49-yard run gave Williamsport a first-and-goal at the 5-yard line. Keith Freeman did the rest as he strolled 5 yards for the Millionaire touchdown.
Following a short Williamsport punt in the fourth quarter, Crestwood’s Ethan covered 22 yards all on the ground, the last eight accounting for a Comet touchdown.
Hennigan again went to work for Williamsport, on fourconsecutive rushing plays he accounted for all 40 yards, the last three being a scoring run.
“We need to go back to the drawing board and clean up our mistakes this week in practice”, said Ryan Arcangeli.
