Milwaukee gets big injury blow after Jrue Holiday exit vs. Nets

Jrue Holiday has been ruled out for the rest of Milwaukee Bucks’ season opener against the Brooklyn Nets due to a foot injury.

According to the Bucks’ injury update before halftime, Holiday suffered a right heel contusion. It effectively ruled him out of the game as the team addresses his injury,

Jrue Holiday was big for the Bucks in the first half, banking 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in roughly 18 minutes of play.

The severity of Holiday’s injury is unknown. While some might think it could be significant given that he had to be ruled out for the game, it is also possible that the Bucks are just being cautious of the health of their starting point guard. After all, it is only the start of the season and they can’t afford to lose him for a long time early given his impact to the team.

Regardless, though, Holiday’s absence is a huge blow to the team as they were facing the high-octane offense of the Nets. More than just scoring, Holiday brings tough defense and guides the perimeter to stop the opposing offense to create any flow.

More updates on Holiday’s injury should come after the game. However, the Bucks and the rest of the fan base are hoping it’s not a serious issue that will bother their star point guard long-term.
