@Shane: I’m curious. And I think Joe Harris’s is near or at his afternoon. So he’s a good stick to measure against. Harris measured 6’4.75 and never lost height in 2019.

Shane said on 14/Nov/21
@rjt looks more like a good 3.5 inches for Harden over Irving there. Have to think Harden had a footwear advantage, for one. If not, Kyrie somehow cheated his combine measurement.

Canson said on 12/Nov/21
@RJT: but then there is Joe Harris to the right and he measured 6’4.75” when he was drafted. I wonder if Kyrie isn’t just 6’1.25” or even a bit lower or if it’s just the pic. I see Harris’s measurement being afternoon

RJT said on 12/Nov/21
If Kyrie is 6’1.5″ Harden is at least 2.5″ taller than him in here Click Here

Close to 3″if Kyrie didn’t tilt his head up, not to mention the Kyries have taller heels than Harden series.

Canson said on 28/Oct/21
@RJT: I see 2” between Curry and Harden and over an inch between Kobe and Harden. With Beal it can look more or less

Canson said on 28/Oct/21
@RJT: I still have him at 6’3.5”. I’ve always wondered about Beal too because he can look + or – but I don’t see a full inch of Beal is standing straight. I think 2cm as the listings suggest at most. Harden was a good 3 cm shorter than Kobe. Maybe 6’3 5/8” at best

@Canson @Editor Rob

I’m leaning more toward his measurement, meaning I agree with this listing.

We agree that Curry and Rose are 6’1.5 range and in those pics Harden tower over ém, look like 3″ honestly.

And and on the left of Him in 1st pic there’s Beal who we agree is 6’3, Harden seem to have full inch on him.

I could buy something like 6’3.75″ for his extreme low, but not lower than that.

Canson said on 26/Oct/21
He needs a reduction. He and curry are both proven morning measurements just like Blake Griffin was. All three were measured at the same time during the same Pre Draft in 2009 yet Griffin is listed closer to his actual height than these guys. I think Griffin is max a flat 6’8” esp next to Durant who looks 1.5” taller minimum and next to DeAndre Jordan who measured 6’9.75”

@Zdan: he would likely be a 6’4.25 guy out of bed and 6’3.5 in the afternoon. They were measured in the morning that year as it says the three players sampled all gained 1/2-3/4”

@Editor Rob: so here you can see Kobe has over an inch on Harden and Carmelo has well over 2”. Couple that with the fact he was in the same combine and draft class as Blake Griffin who we know was early morning. Harden is 6’3.5” afternoon/evening height

Zdan said on 20/Aug/21
People are saying he’s 6’4 in the morning. I’m 6’4 and 1/8th in the morning and 6’3.5 in the evening. Most of the time when I measure myself I am 6’3 and 5/8ths. I think this should be his height or at least 6’3 and 3/4ths

@Editor Rob: needs to be updated to Brooklyn Nets as his current team. Also see him with Robert Williams in the game the last night. No way he’s 6’4”. Williams is 6’8”. 6’3.5 max. Confirms it’s a morning height just like you listed Blake Griffin 1/2” lower (although it says in places 6’8.5 too). Harden, Griffin, and Curry were all drafted the same year

Canson said on 29/Apr/21
Harden looks 1.5” shorter than Kobe with Kobe being favored. Harden needs a downgrade to 6’3.5”. He and LiAngelo Ball measured the same (allegedly).

@Editor Rob: because Kobe is favored but going off actual diff 3cm

Canson said on 12/Apr/21
@Editor Rob:

What do you make of this difference between Kobe and Harden? Looks about 3cm?

Harden looks under 6’4”. Remember Harden got drafted when Blake Griffin did. Early morning measurement. He’s not just .75” shorter than Kobe

Editor Rob

in that moment of course looks barely even 6ft 3

@Editor Rob: he got an early morning measurement just like Blake Griffin did. Same draft class. That’s half inch there

@Shane: yea I saw Donovan Mitchell and the Jazz players along with 6’8 Ben Simmons being listed 3” taller at 6’11

Shane said on 22/Dec/20
@Canson: I think the reason Russ didn’t get 6’4″ is he didn’t care or likes the 6’3″ listing. Otherwise, he would have been listed 6’4″ all along. Some of the teams have now went back to shoe heights. Not a lot, but several. Some other teams have boosted a player or two. And the vast majority of rookies are listed above their combine barefoot measurements by .75 inches to over 2 inches. Seems like, at the very least, the teams are starting to move away from the policy started last year. My guess is it was wildly unpopular with players (that is what I have heard) and that teams will continue to move back towards shoe listings year by year.

Mosha said on 14/Dec/20
He’s definitely 6’4″ with a 6’10” wingspan!

Canson said on 27/Nov/20
@Recapa: I can see 6’4.25 out of bed for him too. My guess is the Rockets roster actually listed him at 6’4.5” if they were audited and they will probably call it a “small” mismeasurement. If we look closely, the top tier of stars in the NBA got measurements that they desired. Maybe except Damian Lillard if we include him in that group. Same with Kyrie. But Lillard had to get a reduction being he’s nowhere near his listing

Lebron (went up an inch)

Anthony Davis never wanted to be listed 6’11 as he admitted on Kimmel and in another article (that is about his actual height around 6’10)

Harden stayed the same

Westbrook stayed the same although in his case he would measure near 6’3 early AM when they’re held so it’s a roundup

Kawhi remained the same when he’s not that tall. Max afternoon 6’5.75 and he measured 6’6 flat at the combine. Willing to be they wrote him in as 6’6.5

Honorable mention since he’s not a top player anymore (Chris Paul got 6’0.25 this year and they rounded to 6’1”). Was listed 6’0” once

Steph Curry (stayed the same) his class explicitly said that 2009 was early AM and that the players sampled were all measured 1/2” taller in 2009 than in 2008 (as I posted the article multiple times after Sportsheight initially posted it). He should’ve gone to 6’2”.

Durant (only went up an inch because he measured accurately and wouldn’t surprise me if he really ends the day under half)

Giannis (stayed the same and would measure close to 6’11 early in the day)

Luka Doncic stayed the same at 6’7”. He doesn’t look like a very strong 6’6” let alone 6’7 (gives off 197cm impression at times) but there’s a chance he could get 6’6.75 early morning

Then some of the rest (no particular order)

Joel Embiid stayed the same

PG lost an inch

Jimmy Butler only lost an inch. Should’ve lost two (if he measured earlier in the day) he’s a strong 6’5 next to Kawhi Leonard unless somehow Kawhi is really 6’6”.

Klay Thompson lost an inch

Ben Simmons gained one

Tatum stayed the same (but would measure close to 6’8 early AM. I have him at 6’7)

Devin Booker lost an inch

Bradley Beal (received about as honest a measurement as it gets) lost two

Kemba Walker lost one (and admitted he’s 5’11) yet still listed 6’

KAT lost an inch Wiggins lost an inch

Draymond and Klay Thompson both lost 1” and I feel it was more due to Draymond complaining about his. Klay was also supposedly measured at 6’5” or in the 6’5 range. This is also Likely how Steph retained his 6’3” listing.

A lot of players only lost one inch when they measured an inch lower than their new 2019-20 listing at the combine

@Shane: I would have Tucker at close to 6’5 out of bed. But afternoon height of 6’4”

Shane said on 21/Feb/20
@Canson honestly I’m not sure Tucker is even 6’4″ flat out of bed. Maybe… but not by much if so.

As for James, I think you may be dead on with the Magic thing and Magic is quite height conscious as well so he may have suggested it because if Lebron is listed 6’9″ barefoot it makes Magic look that tall in pics when we both know neither are likely over 6’7 1/2″ max out of bed.

Shane said on 21/Feb/20
@James Hard: foot protection devices? Are you referring to orthotics?

Canson said on 7/Feb/20
@James Hard: 6’2” is egregiously too low for Harden. Look at him next to Westbrook or PJ Tucker. 6’3” flat looks too low. Same either Carmelo Anthony. While I don’t think he’s as high as 6’4” barefoot, I think 6’3.5” is where he would fall. Best case 6’3 5/8 worst 6’3 3/8 afternoon heights.

James Hard on said on 29/Jan/20
The guy is 6’3 at most, 6’4 with those foot protecting devices – it would surprise me if he was 6’2

6’3 5/8 pretty good for Harden

Canson said on 23/Oct/19
@Shane: Tucker looks 6’4” at best afternoon height. Honestly he may be like Harden 6’3” range

Canson said on 23/Oct/19
@Shane: I agree with everything you said. Westbrook would have no problem at 6’2.75 or 5/8 even around an hour out of bed so he would get the 6’3” easily. Harden they maybe didn’t measure. He would be under 6’4 pretty quickly. Max I see for Harden is 6’3.5 afternoon height. That looks pretty accurate for him so maybe 6’4.25 out of bed like you said. I could believe AD’s height being a low for him but Howard seems like a morning height. And lol. Lebron probably wasn’t measured at all or they measured him 6’7.5 and made a mistake. My other theory is that they want to model him after Magic since he’s playing some 1 this season

Shane Gray said on 22/Oct/19
@Canson I agree listings are crap. Also, i don’t believe for a second PJ Tucker is close enough to 6’5″ to get a 6’5″ listing but i could be wrong. He looks like one of the shortest formerly 6’6″ listed guys I’ve ever seen. I could see Westbrook being 6’2 1/2″ or a bit more it they measured early in day but I do not buy Harden could have measured a full 6’4 1/2″. They may have did almost out of bed and he got like a quarter inch over and figured nba couldnt do anything about it best they could say is it was a quarter inch off which they could easily defend. I’d say Lakers measured very early in day as well if Dwight got 6’9 3/4″ as well as AD. And no I’m not for a second buying Lebron anywhere near 6’8 1/2″ even out of bed. I could see 6’7 1/2″ to maybe 3/4″ out of bed at most. 6’8″ if I’m being super super generous. No chance at 6’8 1/2″.

Canson said on 21/Oct/19

@Junior: my guesses Kobe 195ish maybe give or take a mm so maybe 195.1 or 194.9 Harden 191.5-192 range 6’3.5” vs 6’4.75-.8

Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 20/Oct/19

Canson said on 19/Oct/19
Harden hasn’t grown. He is the same size. 6’4 or 6’4.25 out of bed 6’3.5 afternoon. Kobe is a good 3cm taller and Barkley has him by an inch. Like Viper said the listings are crap

Rockets released their new updated confirmed heights with no shoes. James Harden is still listed at 6’5”, it is possible he grew after the draft. I can say, seeing him in person, 6’4.5” to 6’5” is very possible. I do believe with the new rules concerning height listed on official roster, anything over 1/2” can be rounded to the nearest inch; although some teams are listing height with the fraction

Canson said on 18/Oct/19
I don’t understand how he kept his listing. He is not a 6’4.5 guy out of bed even

Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 9/Oct/19
@Canson Barkley current height is just an estimate you think of it doesn’t mean he started to shrink. I had a uncle who was 63 now a retired basketball coach and 6’4, he had multiple surgeries on knee, hips and back and he still look 6’4 a few months ago when we met. Not everyone losing height at aging zone (60s) some people don’t lost any height at all. Barkley might be one time measure at his extreme low 6’4 5/8 and other time was always closer to 6’5. Harden the worst w/o a hair, socks and shoes i could buy as low as 6’3 1/2 but hardly think below that range. 6’3 5/8 is still a end low for Harden as he look with strong 6’2 Westbrook.

Canson said on 24/Jul/19
@Junior: he may be less than that. Not all players listed 6’4” actually measure that tall. 6’3.75 or a hair over was possible for him meaning he could even be 6’3 3/8. Harden looked at least an inch shorter than Barkley if not more and Barkley isn’t over 6’4 1/2 today (if even)

Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 22/Jul/19

6 ft 4 is a good height for Basketball, the average height for a PG is 6 ft 1 3/4 to 6 ft 2 with out shoes and the average height for a SG is 6 ft 3 – 6 ft 3 1/4, so Harden should have no shame being 6 ft 4! Plus he looks way taller than Superstar PGs and SGs

Canson said on 10/Jun/19
@KA188: Harden is at least an inch shorter than 6’4.5 Barkley and he’s like 3cm taller than 6’2.25 Westbrook. His was an early morning measurement so 6’3.5 is the highest I could buy. He never looks a legit 6’4” on the court

Canson said on 22/Mar/19
@Shane: well said! And even in 2008 you have a guy like Kevin Love who may have “known what to do” lol. He is supposedly closer to 6’7”. Yea low for me would be normal low. So for example if you’re 6’2 out of bed and 6’1.25 at a low then I’d go with 6’1.25 even if you came down to 6’1” flat or less at an extreme low. That’s similar to me but in my case I round down. But for this site I consider the 6’4.25 my true height, actually 6’4.25-.3 as opposed to 6’4 flat

Shane said on 20/Mar/19
@Luca easy answer. 2008 measurements were done later in day. 2009 measurements and those since 2009 have been done very early in morning, almost out of bed.

Shane said on 20/Mar/19
@Canson when you say low here you mean typical low rather than extreme low, correct? Might be good to explain this when saying this because the average person is likely going to think a low is a true low or as low as a person can shrink to it compress to or — in other words — assume it means an extreme low.

Rob,what do you think about the pic/video ?
An official article posted by an user here noticed how the same players, measured both in the 2008 and 2009 pre draft, resulted at least 0,5 inches taller.
This fact, plus the pic w pogba, makes him surely 192 cm at most…in my opinion you should downgrade him

Editor Rob

6ft 3.75 is arguable

Canson said on 23/Feb/19
@Luca: agreed. About a 3cm difference. I would say 188.5-189 for Russ 191.5-192 for Harden

Dear Rob,sorry if i ve been posting a lot these days, but i’m really struggling to discover harden’s and westbrook’s height.
However i’ve recently found some proofs that can give us a clear idea about it.
As we know pogba is a decent 191 cm guy : in the following pic he seems to edge out harden, even if ,with the same posture i think that james would have the edge by nomore than a cm,especially compared to how pogba looks next to 194 cm ibrahimovic

Here you can also see that pogba has a flat pair of shoes,so he has no advantage

Taking all this into account, here you can see a perfect pic and a really good video to compare harden and russell in height

I see exactly 3 cm between them,so my final guess is harden 192 cm westbrook 189 cm.

@Junior; I could buy 191.5 or even 6’3 3/8. 6’3.5 is the absolute most I buy. Your estimate is reasonable tho if he really did measure 6’4 in the AM but he just never looks that tall. He looks at least 3cm shorter than Barkley who is 6’4 5/8 peak. Maybe less today

Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 22/Jan/19
6’3 1/2 is 191.7cm, to be frank that Harden atually don’t look that low. He can look between 192-193cm. 6’3 5/8 could be his lowest of the day. Prince Felipe probably wasn’t over Kobe height at low (6’4.75″) i can see at least 3cm difference on Kobe and Harden although sometimes look over like 1.5″.

Canson said on 28/Dec/18
@Max Kelt: I agree. I would say that Beal grew since being drafted. From what I’ve heard of people who’ve met him he has.

Harden 6 3.5

Beal 6’3.5

Russ 6’2.25 imho

Max kelt said on 26/Dec/18
Canson I agree with you harden at 192 6’3.5 and Russ at 189 6’2.5 and I think for Bradley Beal he’s 192 6’3.5 also same height as Harden.

Canson said on 18/Nov/18
@Legit 6’2. That’s about how I see them too 192 for Harden 189 for Russ

6’3.25-.5 at a low

I would give him 192 cm if Russ is really 189 cm and non a legit 6’3

Slightly taller than Westbrook

Canson said on 19/Sep/18
@Michael Gray and Christian; I’ve got Beard at 6’3” and change max. He’s prob a hair over 6’3” at a low but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s only like 191cm at a low or 191.5 as opposed to 6’3.5. An aged Barkley edged him by 2.5 or 3cm

Christian 6’5 3/8″ said on 15/Sep/18
@Michael Gray

Yeah, that’s why you can’t really trust listed NBA heights, or any listed heights from sport organizations for that matter. You have guys that are inflated as much as 3″, and then there are a few who’s accurate like Larry Bird and Kevin Durant.

Michael Gray said on 13/Sep/18
@Canson yeah I remember when he was listed 6’7″. I may be slightly lowballing him. But also as we know listings dont always mean much. Justice Winslow is listed at 6’7″ after measuring 6’4 1/2″ early in day.

Canson said on 9/Sep/18
@Shane: Kobe skipped the pre draft though and at one stage he was listed 6’7” but when he played alongside Eddie Jones because he played a lot of 3. I saw a FIBA measurement for Kobe at 6’5.25. My guess is that is the height maybe 1-2 hours out of bed and maybe he dips to 6’4 5/8 or 3/4 on a normal day

Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 7/Sep/18
@Christian 6’5 3/8″ @Shane

Kobe hardly look under 6’4.75″, next to Lebron, Jordan and Barkley and Doctor J a full 195cm most likely to be a height before bed and always hard to look under 6’5 with tons of celebrities. Let alone bottom low 6’4.25″.

Christian 6’5 3/8″ said on 22/Jul/18

Alright, I got what you mean. You’re right, he may have been 6’4.5″ after an intense game. But I can’t really see him being 6’4.25″ though.

Shane said on 20/Jul/18
@Christian when I talk low I mean bottom height or extreme low (like after a game or an evening workout) If I’m talking full height I’m talking out of bed. If Kobe were ever 6’5 1/2″ barefoot at or near our of bed he would be seen as still listed 6’7″ imo but even if he were that tall he could dip to 6’4 1/2″ range for a low (low low or extreme low). Again, I wouldnt put him as high as 6’5 1/2 out of bed (full and true height imo but not what is used here) but could see it being possible to be like 6’5 1/4″ out of bed. I know afternoon height is the standard for this site so I would say 6’4 3/4 might be a solid estimate at that time of day. As far as you ruling out 6’5″ for a low I obviously agree as I think that is closer to his full, non compressed height than it is to his low or extreme low.

Christian 6’5 3/8″ said on 11/Jul/18

I disagree. I wouldn’t ever put Kobe as 6’4.25″ at a normal low. At very worst I can see 6’4.5″ for him but 6’4.75″ is alright. But I rule out a full 6’5″ for him since he measured 6’4.75″ and claimed 6’4″.

Canson said on 11/Jul/18
@Junior: Shane’s referring to an extreme low meaning after a game perhaps. He’s right that a 6’4.75 guy could dip to 6’4.5 at an extreme low. I’m 6’4.25 and on a relaxed day where I am not on my feet as much can be 2mm over (not the norm), but can dip to around 6’4” flat after a night on my feet. So if Kobe wakes 6’5.5 and dips to 6’4.75, he may be 6’4.5 or a mm less at an extreme low

Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 9/Jul/18
@Shane If that’s the way then all players need a downgrade by 3/4″. Just because Kobe claim he is 6’4 and other time he say he probably 6’5 in sneakers?

Canson said on 8/Jul/18
@Shane: Kobe at a “normal low” may be 6’4.75 maybe 6’4 2/3. As far as an extreme low he may be around 6’4.5 or hair less. I’ve always had Kobe slightly taller than Jordan and Barkley

Shane said on 7/Jul/18
@Junior no chance Kobes low is 6’4 7/8 lol. That’s way too high. Closer to 6’4 1/4 to 1/3″ at a low. 6’4 1/2″ tops for a low.

Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 1/Jul/18
Harden can be 6’3 5/8 (192.1) in a mid day and Kobe Bryant 6’5 (195.6) and both settle down the low at 6’3 1/2 (191.8) and Kobe 6’4 7/8 (195.3). Because they look to have 3-4cm differences so i rule out 3.5cm between them.

Rising – 174 cm said on 30/Jun/18
@Canson: As you may have guessed, I see Barkley as the tallest of the 3 with Jordan the shortest. Kobe’s 6’4.75″ measurement was probably close to accurate with a small margin of error considering it was done at home(having worked as a carpenter, I regularly see walls and floors that aren’t completely level, especially over time) and Vanessa is more than a foot shorter. 6’4.75″ probably is his low give or take a small fraction. I can rule out 6’5.5″ for him since Metta is that height and a bit taller, maybe 1-2 cm taller. It’s possible Jordan measured 6’4.5″, but Riley was probably going off memory so I think it’s possible he measured 6’4.75″ and I’d say that was perhaps the best listing for Jordan as Kobe appeared a tiny bit taller. Whatever Barkley’s height, I think he’ll shrink a good 3 cm in a day. You’re not much older than me, but I doubt I’ve lost anything. I have chronic knee problems and in fact was undermeasured before I started making sure they were straight. A much healthier lifestyle helped me measure my full height long after I stopped growing.

Canson said on 28/Jun/18
@Rising: I agree that he being some derivative of a weak 6’5”, would make him 6’6” with shoes and listed. I played collegiately and was listed at 6’6” and come down to 6’4 1/4 at a low (6’5 out of bed). I may have been 6’4 3/8 at my peak not sure (I’m 36 but have a disc that is deteriorated in my back). I was always told that I was almost 6’4 1/2 when I was measured before but also got 6’4.75 once from my teams strength and conditioning coach in college. That was likely a morning height as I’ve never replicated it and we did get measured early morning before as well once or twice. Then early afternoon but I did lounge around some I’m sure if I didn’t have class. I’ve always stuck with 6’4 1/2 before I came on the site but 6’4 now a days. I claim 6’4 myself but have guys that claim 6’5 that are an inch shorter.

For good measure I would say this:

An hour out of bed:

Barkley would probably measure 6’5 flat or maybe 6’4 7/8 and would measure about 6’4.5 at a low maybe 6’4 5/8 (6’5.25-.5 out of bed)

Jordan 6’4 7/8 an hour out of bed 6’4.5 at a low 6’5.25 out of bed

Kobe I think is the tallest of the three 6’5.5 out of bed 6’4.75 at a low. I can’t see him any less than a weak 6’5” and in fact he can look 6’5” at times. But maybe an extreme low for Kobe is 6’4.5 but not daily.

Rising – 174 cm said on 28/Jun/18
@Canson: Did he really claim 6’5.25″ too? I think I might remember that from when he did play by play during a game about a decade ago. It was either 6’5 1/4″ or 6’5 3/4″, iirc, but I don’t quite remember. Most NBA players do claim their NBA listings at some point so he probably did claim 6’6″ at least once. He’s basically claimed all the same heights Dolph Lundgren has!

Canson said on 27/Jun/18
@Rising: I think he claimed 6’5.25 lol. And 6’6”. He is all over the place

Rising – 174 cm said on 27/Jun/18
@Canson: I know he’s claimed all of those heights, but what I’m saying is there’s no proof he measured 6’4 5/8″. There is at least one sports writer who claimed Barkley “officially” measured 6’4 7/8″ and they may even be referring to the same thing because the other writer said he learned Barkley was “more like” 6’4 5/8″ than 6’6″. That could simply mean 6’4″ and a fraction. The writer doesn’t say how he learned that either. I assumed it was a measurement for years, but it could have been Barkley claiming it at a press conference. I don’t know if he meant shoes or barefoot when he claimed 6’5.5″ because he’s never specified. Barkley usually seems to speak about barefoot height because even if he were somewhere between 6’4.5″-6’5″ then he’d be more or less 6’6″ in shoes, which is typical for NBA heights.

Canson said on 25/Jun/18
@Rising: he claimed 6’5 and 6’5.5 the latter a shoe height, but he’s also claimed 6’4.5 and was measured 6’4 5/8. Ainge calls him 6’4 “range” here and he calls himself “6’4 1/2” when referring to Gerald Wallace but to be fair 6’4 5/8 is essentially 6’4.5, as do Dan Majerle and Joe Klein. Moses Malone also called Barkley 6’4” range as did Dr J at one point

Then 6’4 3/4 here and here

He’s inconsistent. But from the sounds of it the 6’4 5/8 would be closer to the truth for a barefoot height or perhaps 6’4.5 as lows and he would clear 6’5 out of bed with much ease. It’s more that a lot of the others are overlisted even with shoes than him downplaying his height

Rising – 174 cm said on 25/Jun/18
@Canson: Yeah, as a Knick fan, those were definitely better days! People forget that even with Ewing and Oakley, Anthony Mason was the one guy who guarded Hakeem effectively and he was the one type of player who could give Shaq trouble, yet I’ve seen him guard wings like Vince Carter well and play a sort of point forward role. I’d love to see Harden going against those Knick teams with Derek Harper with those big men waiting at the rim. The ’93-’95 Knicks were arguably the greatest defensive team, but It wasn’t like they didn’t have guys who could score either. Ewing had the ridiculous wingspan, turnaround jumper and “3 step move” across the lane while Starks was one of those guys who could carry you on streaks. Later on, Allan Houston had that smooth pull up jumper(met him around ’99-’00 and all I know is he was taller than Sprewell, I’d have thought 6’5″-6’6″ range) and dropped 50+ twice in the same season while Spree could be explosive as well and almost dropped 50 twice in the same season. My friend offered me a ticket to the game Spree wound up scoring 49 at the Garden, but I couldn’t make it! Two guys who can score 50 in those days were nothing to sneeze at offensively. Miami made for a great rivalry as well. I’m sure casual fans hated those series, but that 2000 series was ridiculously close and competitive after that ’99 upset. Zo was at his peak while Ewing was old and had bad knees, but he still had enough left to compete with Mourning. The Bulls were validated as more than just Jordan in ’94 when they may have beaten the Knicks without Jordan if not for the Hue Hollins call. Thye started off as mostly Jordan while the team learned the triangle in ’90 and ’91 before Pippen came into his own in late ’91 around the time Grant did and by ’94, they knew the system so well, they could win executing and somewhat make up for the loss of Jordan no longer being able to carry them. Pippen became a better player with added responsibility as well and these are reasons the second 3peat teams couldn’t lose. Same thing happened in ’98 by the time Pippen’s back began to go and Jordan had to carry them at 35, even with his injury to his shooting hand. Of course, Detroit started it all and everyone knows about their defense, but they had so many different weapons they could go to and would ride the hot hand whether it was Isiah, Dumars, The Microwave, Dantley and later Aguirre, James Edwards in the post etc. Those Seattle teams were great too and the teams were probably at their best before Payton and Kemp reached their own respective peaks. Derrick McKey was underrated and a great all around player for them and that ’93 team may have actually been their best, even though they probably got by Houston due to the refs. Bob Kloppenburg’s SOS pressure defense was a thing of beauty. Even the late 90’s Lakers were far more talented than the 3peat teams from top to bottom, but were less mature and didn’t have Phil. 2000 was probably the last year as you had most of the 90’s guys still at the top of their game like Malone and a loaded Blazer team(much like the great teams with Drexler, Porter etc. in the early 90’s). The Kings had some great teams around that time too and you still had some phenomenal talents on the perimeter like McGrady and Iverson. The great teams that didn’t win it all like Utah, Seattle, Phoenix, Portland etc. all get forgotten. As does David Robinson in his pre-Duncan days when he was one of the great defenders and most athletic 7 footers who ever played. Nowadays, too many guys like that fire up 4 or 5 3s and they’re not Dirk Nowitzki by any stretch shooting 28, 30, maybe 33%. That and the flopping/lack of physicality is probably what bothers me the most. Lebron is one of the guys who would probably thrive in any era due to his once in a generation physical talent, but it’d certainly be an adjustment and I could see him getting frustrated by the physicality of Riley’s Knicks. I have a much harder time seeing a guy like Harden winning MVPs or being an elite superstar in those days and even Durant would get less foul calls than he was use to and would have to adjust to stronger players being able to guard him with their strength.

As for Barkley, he’s claimed 6’4″, 6’4.5″, 6’4.75″, 6’5″ and 6’5.5″ to my knowledge. I don’t know if he’s claimed anything else, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Rising – 174 cm said on 24/Jun/18
@Christian: That’s true. He claimed to have been measured 6’5″ and 6’4 3/4″. I’ve said many times I believe he downgrades himself, but if you take Barkley at his word then he did measure 6’4.75″-6’5″.

Canson said on 24/Jun/18
@Christian: he’s also claimed 6’4 1/2 as did Danny Ainge when referring to him on more than one occasion. Dan Majerle and Joe Klein called him 6’4 but he’s probably no less than 6’4.5

Some of the best ball ever played actually in the 90s with those Seattle Houston SA and Jazz teams and of course in the strong east back then like Chicago, New York, Miami, and even further back the Bad Boys!!! I don’t see any of these ballers today being able to take on those late 80s and very early 90s Pistons teams. That includes Lebron he wouldn’t know what to do with himself with those hard fouls that Laimbeer and Mahorn would give him

Well, Barkley himself claimed to have measured 6’4.75″ once as well.

Rising – 174 cm said on 22/Jun/18
Of course, anyone could have measured 1/8″ under and they’d round it, but I don’t think there’s any proof of Barkley measuring 6’4 5/8″. We don’t have proof of the ’92 players being measured at all during the Olympics, just one SI article saying they learned during that time Barkley was “more like 6-4 5/8″, which doesn’t say he was exactly that height and the writer also doesn’t specify how he learned Barkley and Magic were those heights. The only heights listed for Dream Team players were listings that literally knocked 2″ off everyone’s NBA listing with the one exception being John Stockton, whom they listed at a believable 6’0” for some reason. Other than that, I’ve not seen any measurements for that team.

As for with Harden and Barkley, I’m only trying to judge what the difference looks like between the two, not the heights I believe the two players to be. But as I said, an angle could exaggerate a 3 cm difference to more like 5 cm. I believe low angles like that typically favor the taller person and Barkley might be positioned closer.

On a side note, whenever I see Harden drive into the lane and throw his arms up looking for a whistle, I miss the NBA from 20 years ago!

Canson said on 21/Jun/18
@Rising: I’d say it’s a full inch or maybe close to 3cm between them. A morning height for Harden could’ve even been 6’3.8-.85 and been rounded since they don’t do 1/8” increments in the NBA. Harden may well just be 6’3.25-.5 range while Barkley measured 6’4 5/8

Canson said on 21/Jun/18
@Ace and Rising: Harden was a morning measurement. He’s likely just 6’3.5 max whereas one guy met him below and said that too. He looked no more than maybe 1.5” on Eric Gordon

Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 21/Jun/18
@Ace Kobe must be 6’5 3/8 then and Russell Westbrook 6’2 5/8. There is 3-4cm between Kobe and Harden and there is 3-4cm between Westbrook and Harden.

Barkley looked more than an inch taller than Harden. Here’s their commercial: Click Here and here’s a still: Click Here Not the best angle, but Barkley’s posture doesn’t even look good, but he looks at least 2″ taller. So three possibilities: Harden is shorter than 6’4″, Barkley is taller than 6’5″ or the angle is exaggerating the difference. Maybe 6’4″ was an early measurement for Harden, but there’s definitely more than 2 cm between the two.

Canson said on 2/Jun/18
Didn’t look but max 1.5” taller than 6’2” measured Eric Gordon. That’s assuming Gordon is a full 6’2”. Also didn’t look anywhere near as tall as Trevor Ariza. Looked closer to 4” at times definitely not less than 3.5”

I respect Shane of course but disagree on the morning argument because In reality if someone measures later in the day they aren’t their morning height anymore. I believe more in a range for each person

Canson said on 25/Feb/18
@Shane: I respect what you say but that’s an opinion on your part as far as morning height being a true height. I don’t get what you mean by part of the body isn’t showing tho in the measurement that’s just the norm for everyone we all compress. No such thing as a true height just like you are 6’2 out of bed essentially signaling a strong 6’1” but you claim 6’2 as opposed to I’m 6’5 out of bed 6’4.25 at night and strong 6’4 and just say im 6’4”. Guess it varies from person to person.

Shane said on 23/Feb/18
@Frost: Why on earth would you run them before measuring Lol? NBA is right on to measure first thing in am to get players full, complete height, not a compressed version of it. Why doesn’t the Olympics make sprinters run 4 sprints before they time the first one lol and get an average? No, they time them at their fastest, full speed. When u cash your check at bank do u tell the bank u don’t want to keep the full amount because after a couple bills your money will shrink so let’s just not count it all? Just silly. I’m 6’2″ barefoot out of bed which is my true, full, optimal height of my entire body. I’m not counting a height when part of my body isn’t showing in the measurement. 🙂

Shane said on 23/Feb/18
@Ricky: lol. If his morning measurement is 6’4″ as u said then his max is 6’4″ quite obviously. And if he can measure 6’4″ without shoes then he is 6’4″. He doesn’t lose part of his body and never get it back lol! Height before compression is true, full, real height as it gets the full person, not the compressed one.

how big is the difference between James Harden and D’Angelo Russel ?

Canson said on 25/Jan/18
@Johnson: they’re the same ones I’ve seen of the two guys. At times it’s 5.5” others 6”. Howard at 6’9” flat is likely just an afternoon measurement and he may have possibly gained half inch (maybe). Harden was a 6am hour measurement tho they’ve all been since 2009. Plus no 1/8” increments so that 6’4 could be anywhere from 6’3 3/4-6’4. But to me he looks 6’3.5 pretty regularly so that could be maybe 6’3 3/8 or 6’3.5 maybe at best.

Canson said on 25/Jan/18
@Mark Huntington: commish looks about half inch taller than Russ imho. Russ was an afternoon measurement in 08 which is why people assume he’s taller than he is so his is actually the accurate one of the two. His looks right with Melo as well who I have met and is about 1.5- 2” taller than me (I’m 6’4.25) and he could look no less than a decent 6’6” no more than 6’6.25ish (198/199). Harden is the morning measurement so 6’3.5ish fits him better. Commissioner silver is def around 6’3.

Mark Huntington said on 25/Jan/18
He’s 6’4 Russell Westbrook is the same height as the commissioner Adam silver who is 190cm, which is weird because Adam looks waaaay taller then 190 he’s almost the same height as everyone at the draft guys who measure 6’4 1/2 Adam is the same height. That being said I saw Russel collect his MVP award from Adam and looked the same height and harden is an inch or a little more than a inch taller than Russell when standing tall, Harden for sure is 6’4 flat.

Canson said on 24/Jan/18
@Andrea: actually in other pics that is a possibility. He was mentioned to be over 6’5” at one stage but not sure if that’s a different time of the day as he also was measured 196. Maybe he’s lost some height or posture is poor to where it appears that way

Andrea said on 24/Jan/18
There are several pictures of him with King Felipe and I would say that Felipe looks taller than him (with probably less footwear aswell), but I doubt it’s anything more than an inch. Speaking of Felipe, I still think 6’5 is his best case scenario and I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if he was more 6’4.5 range. If you look at him with Obama, I’m not sure he really looks a big 6’5 guy. Actually, guys like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant give a taller (and closer to 6’5) impression than a guy like Felipe next to the same Obama…

Kevin 185 hey he is 6-4 nice listed

He got drafted when he was 19. Definitely possible he grew a fraction afterwards. I could see him a half inch taller than pique even considering the lean.

Canson said on 21/Jan/18
@Joao: I’d bet money King Felipe is 1.5” taller bare minimum if not a bit more. You need to use a pic that compares them more objectively where you can see clearly angle ground level footwear etc which you can’t here. I’ve seen pics where a 6’4 5/8 Charles Barkley looks as tall as Magic at 6’7”. King Felipe is at worst a solid 6’5 Harden got measured in the early morning 6’4. He’s max 6’3.5 if not 6’3 3/8 at a low as the NBA doesn’t do 1/8” increments they will round to the next 1/4 if you’re over a certain fraction

@Rob: I wouldn’t put Russ being 6’2.5 out of the question but his was for sure an afternoon measurement in 2008 and he was almost 20 when drafted. I agree with Frost and Christian on Harden. Russ tho actually looks his listed height imho. Also given the absence of 1/8” measurements and looking at him with Carmelo Anthony looks a solid 4”. when I met Melo he looked around his draft height so I think Russ could be somewhat the same. I have more questions about Harden’s measurement but it was in the morning being he looks nowhere near 6’4” than Russ’s. Harden can only look 1” taller than Russ tbh. And looks at least an inch shorter than Barkley at least and about 1-1.5” shorter than Kobe. I Bring up 1/8” increments because Harden could only have been somewhere between 6’3 3/4-7/8 as well and been given 6’4. He doesn’t look more than about 191-192 max maybe even just 191.5ish next to Dwight Howard who is supposedly only 6’9”

Hard to say who looks taller between him and Pique there, but yeah… We don’t know their footwear which could certainly make the difference. If they have similar footwear, it’s funny that one guy managed to measure almost 195 and the other one 6’4, when there’s barely any difference between them. That being said, I don’t see how some people still think or ask if 6’5 is possible considering that he (Harden) got measured at 6’4 flat and that it was likely early in the morning, so he could even be more around 6’3.5 at his low, like Christian said.

@Editor Rob

Westbrook was measured 6’2.25″ so he can’t be taller than that. I can confidently say he’s not 6’2.5″

Editor Rob

Well it’s not impossible for some players to have gained a fraction or so, especially those under 21.

Edwin said on 20/Jan/18
Rob. Is 6’5 possible. NBA lists him as 6’5

Editor Rob

He was measured 6ft 5.25 in sneakers and 6ft 4 in socks, so it’s a bit unlikely.

@Rob The NBA still hasn’t received the backlash the NFL received in the 2000s for strange combine disparities. A 14 man squad with strange height fluctuations is vastly different to a 53 man roster where half of the players are either under-listed or over-listed.

Kind of tired of weird height regulations. Height is an objective. Wake your players up at 8AM have them run their early drills and measure them around noon. Accuracy at its finest right there.

Also Harden isn’t much taller than Westbrook. Like an inch, maybe an inch and a quarter. Coupled with the Ansel Elgor pics he needs an upgrade tbh.

To keep Westbrook at 6’2.25 Harden can’t be anything more than 6’3.5

Editor Rob

Westbrook at 6ft 2.5 may well be closer.

So, one of them should be reviewed.

Yes, Piqué Busting a Gut marked 194.7-194.8 in a video

Editor Rob
One thing I find curious…why are the NBA still measuring these players with what is basically a set square and a wall chart.

It’s not like they can’t afford a spare $10,000 to get a custom made stadiometer made to accommodate heights up to 8 feet tall.

No he’s not. Where did you get that height from?

I thought he was 6’5 area but 6’4″ seems to be accurate.

Canson said on 19/Jan/18
Doesn’t look a legit 6’4 but would likely measure that within the first hour or one hour out of bed as his was in 2012. 191-192 range is how he would measure during the day. Only about an inch or so taller than Westbrook

Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 19/Jan/18
Rob, could a fraction below 6ft4 (i.e. 6ft3⅞) be closer for Pique?

This guy looks to have the edge but maybe it’s not as much as it looks in that photo as Gerard is leaning in…

Editor Rob
Well I’m not sure on their footwear, but one thing is sure. Earlier in the day Pique cleared 6ft 4 Busting a Gut and Harden got 6ft 4 flat.
