Malaysia floods : Over 20,000 evacuated as the country faces worst flooding in years
Over 20,000 people were evacuated throughout Malaysia on Sunday as the country faces some of its worst flooding in years.
Nearly 10,000 people fled their homes in the country’s richest state of Selangor which surrounds the capital Kuala Lumpur with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob expressing surprise at the strong flooding there.
The tropical Southeast Asian nation often experiences stormy weather at year’s end, with seasonal flooding regularly causing mass evacuations.
The downpour that started on Friday morning and continued into Saturday hit worst in the western state of Selangor – Malaysia‘s wealthiest and most populous region surrounding the capital Kuala Lumpur.
The Prime Minister gave his assurance on the safety of victims as the top priority of the government apart from ensuring food supply is provided to victims especially around the Klang Valley
