We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to work in a stimulating environment within a department providing high quality computing services.

The role is to lead the SITS Application Support & Development Team, within the Corporate Systems section of IT Services, which is responsible for the support and development of the student services applications on the Tribal SITS suite of products. SITS experience is desirable but not necessarily essential for this position.

– Lead the SITS Application & Development team in the delivery of support of student services systems.
– Work closely with University stakeholders and third party suppliers to ensure service is delivered to a consistently high standard.
– Work collaboratively with the Student Lifecycle Programme team who are responsible for delivering the Tribal SITS suite of products through the delivery cycle to meet service expectations.
– Bring your own experience and expertise to change and improve both the work of the department, and the work of the University as a whole.
– Gain an understanding of some of the wider aspects of how the University works, and work with a range of people in supporting the operation of the University.

Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

– Lead the SITS Application & Development team in the delivery of support of student services systems.
– Co-ordinate the day to day activities of the Application Support & Development team, prioritising the work and giving direction and instruction, as required.
– Manage the delivery of incident, problem, small change releases, working collaboratively with all stakeholders to manage end to end delivery
– Plan timetable of work for system enhancements (requests for changes and new work agreed and prioritised) with all impacted areas 3 months in advance.
– Work collaboratively with the Student Lifecycle Programme team who are responsible for delivering the Tribal SITS suite of products through the delivery cycle to meet service expectations.
– Provide support and enhancements to existing information systems, to ensure that they function correctly and are meeting the needs of their users.
– Support the assessment and implementation of system patches and upgrades, working with University stakeholders and third party providers.
– Liaise with other teams inside and outside the department and co-ordinate work as required.
– Manage all operational aspects of the team, including line management, planning and forecasting, auditing and reporting.
– Contribute to the development of support standards to ensure development artefacts and configuration are appropriate recorded, stored and maintained, with the aim of developing a common, standardised approach across the whole section in furtherance of the functional activities of Information Technology Services (architecture, performance and resource)
– Promotion and development of existing and new services and systems which you are responsible for, in line with the objectives of the department and the University.
– Provide expert advice and guidance as and when required to project team members, stakeholders and colleagues in other departments.
– Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex concepts into understandable, relevant, appropriate messages both verbally and in writing.
– Keep abreast of developments in the sector via conferences, forums, webinars and mail lists.
